Overview
Wherever extremes of temperature or specific requirements
preclude the use of either epoxies or polyurethanes, then the versatile
range of silicone elastomers, sealants, adhesives and potting compounds
are available.
Robnor Resins offer a versatile range of 1 and 2-part
systems
which can be applied at room temperature. Silicone rubbers cure
easily in deep sections needed for encapsulating, electrical potting
and/or casting or flexible to semi-rigid prototype tooling.
Silicones
can offer excellent release characteristics, ideal for casting epoxy,
polyester, and polyurethane parts.
Silicone polymers offer long-term
resistance to environmental extremes. Chemical, electrical and mechanical
properties of silicones
remain virtually unchanged at temperatures from -50°C to 220° C.
Silicones
have a low flammability rating. Their chemical nature means that
they do not support or promote combustion; they do not
produce toxic or gaseous by-products.
Silicone rubbers are little
affected by ultraviolet light or ozone.
